On line 4, the Barbara station is a nod to all the little girls and women with that name, but above all, to the famous French singer, famous for "Dis, quand reviendras-tu?".

Located between the towns of Bagneux and Monrouge, the Barbara metro station is served by line 4 of the Paris metro, which links Porte de Clignancourt in the 18th arrondissement to Lucie Aubrac station in Bagneux. It opens in January 2022, making it the 305th station on the Paris metro: to name this new station, a public consultation was launched to decide between the three proposed names. The line 4 station will therefore be called Barbara, Coluche or Fort de Montrouge; following the vote that took place in May and June 2018, Barbara finally won.

The French singer, songwriter and composer, best known for L'Aigle Noir, the beautiful love song Dis, quand reviendras-tu? and Une petite cantate, was born in 1930 in the 17th arrondissement of Paris. Born Monique Andrée Serf, she is better known by her stage name Barbara.

She lived for 13 years as a child in the 20th arrondissement, at 50 rue Vitruve, where a commemorative plaque now stands, then moved house after house during the German Occupation. She left French chanson with numerous recordings and songs that have become veritable classics of the French repertoire. Weakened by her heavy consumption of drugs, she died in Neuilly-sur-Seine in November 1997, and has since been buried in the Parisian cemetery of Bagneux, accessible not far from the metro station.
