After Ciaran, a new storm is brewing in France. This Saturday, November 4, the low-pressure system christened "Domingos" will sweep across a large part of the country. Although forecast to be less violent than Ciaran, this storm will still be accompanied by "strong gusts" of wind. So what exactly can we expect in Paris and the Ile-de-France region? We answer.

Many people are still thinking about storm Ciaran, which caused two deaths and sixteen injuries, as well as widespread damage on Wednesday night and again on Thursday November 2. Numerous absolute wind records were broken between Brittany and Hauts-de-France," reports La Chaîne Météo. According to the weather service, the wind reached its " maximum at 207 km/h " at the Pointe du Raz. " This autumn storm was stronger than that of October 1987 in terms of its geographical extent across north-western France, but slightly less powerful. In terms of its extent, it can be compared to storm Lothar, which was a winter storm," explains La Chaîne Météo.

From now on, all eyes will be on storm "Domingos". This new low-pressure system is expected to hit the country this Saturday, November 4, 2023. Already forecast as less violent than Ciaran, " strong gusts " of wind are nevertheless to be feared on the coast, in Charente-Maritime, Vendée, Loire-Atlantique, but also in the coastal departments of the English Channel. According to Keraunos, the French observatory for tornadoes and violent thunderstorms, " gusts close to 100 km/h inland and 130 km/h along the coast are expected ".

Météo France has already placed 68 of France's départements under yellow vigilance for high winds. " In some departments on the Atlantic seaboard (around Vendée/Poitou-Charentes in particular), a change to orange vigilance ("Wind") is likely ", says Météo France in today's bulletin, adding that in the Mediterranean, concerning the"Wave-submergence" vigilance, " a change to orange vigilance is not excluded in the departments of Bouches-du-Rhône, Var, Alpes Maritimes, and Corse-du-Sud due to the strong south-westerly waves expected ".

In the afternoon, gusts could reach 80 km/h in places, particularly in Seine-et-Marne, or 70 km/h in the inner suburbs. Winds are expected to ease slightly on Saturday evening and Sunday.
