While the Centre-Val de Loire region won first prize in the 4th national competition for the best almond galette, Île-de-France took third place on the podium. So, which baker from the Paris region managed to climb to third place? And where can you enjoy this third-best almond galette in France? We'll tell you everything.

As 2025 draws to a close, gourmet competitions for the best almond galettes are multiplying. After the best galette in Yvelines, Val-d'Oise, andEssonne, it's time for the national competition for the best almond galette, in other words, the best almond galette in France, 2026 edition!

Organized by the Confédération nationale de la Boulangerie-Pâtisserie française(National Confederation of French Bakers and Pastry Chefs), this fourth edition of the competition saw no fewer than 20 candidates from different regions of France compete on December 2 and 3 in Allier. Over two days, the finalists worked tirelessly for five and a half hours to produce two 30 cm diameter almond galettes each. The jury judged them on several criteria, including baking, almond cream or frangipane, puff pastry, glazing, and of course taste!

After deliberation, Gilles Lecointrefrom the Centre-Val de Loire region was declared the winner of the 4th edition of the national competition for the best almond galette. He was followed byFrédéric Hubert from the Grand Est region.

Residents of the Paris region can rest assured that Île-de-France is well represented this year thanks to Hervé Traclet. The chocolatier and pastry chef, who works at the bakery "Le Fournil d'Autrefois" in Etampes in Essonne alongside his boss Anthony Beuchet, took third place on the podium! His galette des rois, available from the beginning of January 2026 at the bakery and pastry shop "Le Fournil D'autrefois" (85 rue de la République, 91150 Étampes), is therefore the third best in France!

Note that Lionel Bonnamy, from La Fabrique Aux Gourmandises, in the 14th arrondissement of Paris, was also among the finalists in this competition.
