To avoid chaos on public transport or on the roads, have you decided to take to the bike during the Paris 2024 Olympic Games? With the emergence of numerous bike lanes in recent years, the use of this mobility has exploded, and it's set to be the preferred means of travel during the competition this summer, which is set to be 100% bike-accessible. To make life easier for cyclists, giant bicycle parking facilities are being set up all over the city, particularly near the Olympic venues.
In the Hauts-de-Seine region, home to the Paris La Défense Arena and the Yves-du-Manoir stadium, which will host swimming and field field hockey events, almost 1,400 spaces will be deployed over the coming months, including 900 in Nanterre and 500 in Colombes. These ephemeral parking lots will accommodate bicycles belonging to local residents or rented by tourists, as well as Vélib', thanks to the installation of 200-space temporary stations.
As for the Olympists, they are expected to link up a 60-kilometer network of cycle paths to access all the Games' competition venues. The Mairie de Paris had announced 10,000 bicycle parking spaces around the Olympic venues, with the creation of 3,000 spaces near the Stade de France, which was sorely lacking.
