Paris, the cycling capital? Although the French capital is not nearly as well-equipped as Paris in terms of cycle paths and other facilities for two-wheeled activities, it does have a number of "Accueil vélo" label sites. Here's a short list to keep in mind if you're planning to visit Paris on a cycling trip!

From Paris, you can cycle long distances on some of France's most famous cycle routes , including the Véloscénie, which leads to Mont Saint-Michel, the Seine à vélo, which takes you to Le Havre or Deauville, and theAvenue verte, which takes you all the way to London for a trip across the Atlantic... The possibilities are endless, especially since kilometer 0 is located in front of the majestic Notre-Dame Cathedral!

What are "Accueil vélo " sites? These are restaurants, accommodations, places to visit and bike rental and repair outlets located along cycle routes for touring cyclists. The label is awarded by France vélo tourisme, whose website features a map of "Accueil vélo" label sites throughout France. To qualify for the label, however, a number of criteria must be met. First of all, the location must be less than 5 kilometers from a cycling route. It must also have facilities adapted to cyclists (secure bicycle shelter, repair kit, etc.) and provide services dedicated to bicycle travel. Whether it's luggage transfer, laundry and drying facilities, or bike rental and washing, all these services are essential for two-wheeled enthusiasts.

So, in Paris, there are just under a dozen places that have been awarded the Accueil vélo label by France Vélo Tourisme:

  • l'auberge de jeunesse Yves-Robert, 20 esplanade Nathalie Sarraute (18th arrondissement)
  • the Originals Maison Montmartre, 32 avenue de la porte de Montmartre (18th)
  • Paulette Bike, 115 rue Brancion (15th)
  • Paris à vélo, 22 rue Alphonse Baudin (11th)
  • Vélos vagabonds, 62 bis rue de Mouzaïa (19th district)
  • Pastel Cycles - Richer, 4 rue Richer (9th district)

  • Pastel Cycles - Batignolles, 29 rue des Batignolles (17th)
