After partially reopening to host the fencing and taekwondo events of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the Grand Palais has closed its doors, not to reopen to the public until June 6, 2025. Didier Fusillier, currently president of the Réunion des Musées Nationaux-Grand Palais (RMN-GP) and in charge of overseeing the renovation of the Grand Palais, said on Monday morning that the Grand Palais would become a "Palais des fêtes" where it would be good to "get lost", "without even knowing what you might find there".

The Grand Palais Ice Rink, this iconic and massive skating rink sprawling beneath the glass roof of the Grand Palais, is making its comeback. The Grand Palais is gradually opening its doors to Parisians and tourists alike, starting with the opening of the Grand Palais ice rink from December 14 to January 8, 2025. The 4,000 m2 ice rink is already in keeping with the festivities taking place at the Grand Palais, and reflects Didier Fusillier' s vision of a "Palais des fêtes".
The Grand Palais, an iconic Paris landmark, is currently in the midst of a major renovation project, due to start in March 2021. The aim of the work is to completely restore the building, weakened by the passage of time, and modernize its infrastructure. This vast 466 million euro project has resulted in the creation of an innovative technical slab for the nave, to help regulate the temperature during periods of heatwave in Paris. A brand-new venue, ready to welcome the future "Palais des fêtes", where dance, carnival, theater and much more will take place.
