Paris Marathon 2025: traffic and parking restrictions

Due to the 48th edition of the Paris International Marathon, scheduled for this Sunday, April 13, 2025, the Préfecture de police has published an order temporarily modifying traffic and parking in several streets of the capital. Find out more about the restrictions surrounding this major foot race.

With the return of fine weather, the running season is back in full swing in Paris and elsewhere in the Île-de-France region. After the Paris Semi, it's time for the famous Paris Marathon! This not-to-be-missed 42.195-kilometre race links the top of the Avenue des Champs-Élysées to the Avenue Foch, via the Rue de Rivoli, the Place de la Bastille, the Place de la Nation, the Bois de Vincennes, the Quais de Seine and the Hippodrome d'Auteuil.

But this great pedestrian event, to be experienced on Sunday April 13, 2025, is not without consequences for Parisian motorists. The Préfecture de police de Paris has issued a decree temporarily modifying parking and traffic conditions from April 4 to 13, in several areas of the capital, notably in the 7th, 8th, 9th, 11th, 12th and 16th arrondissements, as well as in Charenton-le-Pont, Boulogne-Billancourt and Saint-Mandé. The aim? To ensure the smooth running of this sporting event and the safety of participants.

Note that the order also mentions traffic and parking restrictions due to the organization of the Paris Run For All and Marathoon's, two other races scheduled for Saturday April 12.

So what are these restrictions? Which roads will be closed to traffic and parking? We tell you all about it.

  • April 4, 5 and 7, from 7:00 am to 7:30 pm: all vehicular traffic is prohibited on the bike path and the rightmost traffic lane, on the odd-numbered side, avenue Foch, in the 16th district, from avenue Foch no. 1 to avenue de Malakoff.

  • April 8, 9 and 10, 2025 from 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.: all vehicular traffic prohibited on the bicycle path and the rightmost traffic lane, on the even-numbered side of avenue Foch, from avenue Foch no. 1 to avenue de Malakoff.

  • From April 11, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. to April 13, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. : parking of all vehicles prohibited in the following streets in the 12th and 16th arrondissements in Paris, and in Charenton-le-Pont, Boulogne-Billancourt and Saint-Mandé:
    • rue du Faubourg Saint-Antoine, even-numbered side, from n°246bis to n°262 ;
    • avenue Daumesnil, for 350 meters from esplanade Saint-Louis;
    • route de la Ferme, from no. 2 to no. 44, from no. 1 to no. 39 and from no. 71 to no. 74;
    • avenue de Gravelle, from no. 31 to no. 47;
    • rue de Charenton, from n°224 to n°238 ;
    • avenue Daumesnil, from n°131 to n°135 ;
    • rue de Picpus, from n°78 to n°84 ;
    • avenue du Président Kennedy, from n°100 to n°104 ;
    • boulevard d'Auteuil, from no.2 to no.4;
    • avenue Ingres, between avenue Raphaël and avenue Prud'hon;
    • boulevard Bourdon, from n°11 to n°23.

  • From April 11, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. to April 13, 2025 at 8:00 p.m.: parking of all vehicles prohibited in the following streets in the 16th district of Paris:
    • avenue Foch, counter-alley, from n°35 to n°49 ;
    • avenue Foch, side-alley, from no. 46 to no. 54;
    • avenue Foch, from n°70 to n°74;
    • avenue Hubert Germain in its entirety, on both sides;
    • rue de la Faisanderie, from n°2 to n°28.

  • From April 12, 2025 at 3:00 am to April 13, 2025 at 11:30 pm: all vehicular traffic is prohibited on avenue Foch, between avenue Malakoff and place du Paraguay, and between rue de Presbourg and avenue Malakoff, in the 16th district of Paris, with the exception of the section between avenue de Malakoff and avenue Raymond Poincaré, which is open to traffic.

  • April 12, 2025, from 6:30 am to 10:00 am: traffic will be prohibited on rue de Rivoli, between rue de Rohan and rue de l'Amiral de Coligny in central Paris.

  • April 12, 2025, between 8:30am and 10:00am: vehicles will be banned fromthe following streets in Paris Centre and 7th arrondissements:
    • rue de l'Amiral de Coligny ;
    • quai François Mitterrand ;
    • pont Royal ;
    • quai Valéry Giscard d'Estaing, from quai Voltaire to promenade Edouard Glissant;
    • quai d'Orsay, from promenade Edouard Glissant to place de la Résistance ;
    • place de la Résistance ;
    • avenue Bosquet.

  • On April 12, 2025, from 7:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.: all vehicular traffic prohibited at Place de Fontenoy-Unesco, in the 7th arrondissement.

  • On April 12, between 8:30 and 10:30 a.m.: vehicles will also be banned from the following streets in the 7th arrondissement:
    • avenue Duquesne, between avenue de la Motte-Picquet and avenue de Lowendal ;
    • place de l'Ecole Militaire.

  • April 13, 2025 from 00:01 am to 3:00 pm: all vehicle traffic prohibited on avenue des Champs Elysées, between place Charles de Gaulle and rond-point des Champs Elysées Marcel Dassault, in the 8th arrondissement.

  • April 13, 2025 from 00:01 am to 9:00 pm: traffic ban on all vehicles in the following streets in the 16th district of Paris:
    • place du Chancelier Adenauer ;
    • avenue Hubert Germain.

  • April 13, 2025 from 4:00 am to 11:30 pm: all vehicular traffic is prohibited on avenue Foch, between avenue Malakoff and avenue Raymond Poincaré, in the 16th district.

  • All motor vehicle traffic is prohibited on the following exit ramps of the boulevard périphériques, on the dates and at the times indicated below:

    • April 13, 2025, from 5:30 am to 3:30 pm :
      • Boulevard Périphérique exit ramp outside Porte de Charenton ;
      • exit ramp from the inner ring road at Porte Dorée;

    • On April 13, 2025, from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on the following exit ramps of the inner and outer ring road:
      • from Porte Dauphine ;
      • from porte de Passy ;
      • Porte d'Auteuil

  • On April 13, 2025, from 7:00 am to 5:30 pm : reversal of all vehicular traffic in the following lanes and portions of lanes, in central Paris, then in the 7th and 12th arrondissements:

  • April 13, 2025, from 7am to 6pm: all vehicle traffic prohibited on the Garigliano bridge, from the left bank to the right bank, in the 15th and 16th arrondissements.

  • April 13, 2025, from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm: no traffic on exit n°1 of the A13 freeway in the Province-Paris direction.

  • On April 13, 2025, from 7:00 am to 1:30 pm: all vehicular traffic is prohibited on the following roads along the race route in central Paris, then in the 8th, 9th, 11th and 12th arrondissements:
    • avenue des Champs Elysées ;
