Store closures continue unabated. After C&A, GIFI and Office Dépot, it's now the turn of the famous home decoration store. Casa, well known for its affordable home furnishings, is closing its doors for good in France. On June 11, 2025, the Bobigny Commercial Court declared the company in receivership, closing its 143 stores in France and laying off 700 employees. In the Île-de-France region, eight stores are affected.
In Paris, according to actu.fr, four stores will be closing: located in the 9th, 12th, 15th and 16th arrondissements, they represented the last outlets still open in the capital. In the inner suburbs, two stores are located in Hauts-de-Seine (Levallois-Perret and Boulogne-Billancourt) and two others in Val-de-Marne (Fresnes and Villiers-sur-Marne).
The collapse of Casa France is a direct consequence of the liquidation of Casa International, the company's Belgian headquarters. This was responsible for the logistics, IT and strategic management of the chain. In March 2025, Casa France was placed in receivership, in the hope of finding a buyer. As no offer was accepted, closure became inevitable.
Founded in 1975, Casa has long represented an affordable alternative for decorating enthusiasts. Its demise comes at a difficult time for the home furnishings sector, faced with competition from e-commerce and changing consumer habits. The closure deprives many neighborhoods of local shops, much to the chagrin of loyal customers.
In short, yet another player who has failed to find a buyer.
