Ahhh Paris and dogs, what a love story! According to the City of Paris, there are nearly 100,000 dogs in the city. With 2,857 dogs per square kilometer, Paris is the city with the highest density of dogs in the world! As a result, green spaces dedicated to our beloved four-legged friends are highly sought after. While the Bois de Boulogne and Bois de Vincennes are favored by their owners, several dog parks are regularly opening, allowing our furry friends to let off steam in protected and secure areas. The latest addition? A dog park in the 10th arrondissement.
Inaugurated on October 16, 2025, as part of the redevelopment of the Canal Saint-Martin, this dog park is located at 184 Quai de Jemmapes (lower quay), "in a neglected area of the Louis-Blanc basin, adjacent to the Canal Saint-Martin," according to the City of Paris.
Covering an area of 320 m² and open seven days a week, this dog park isfenced and secure. This space has been designed "to offer dogs and their owners a shaded area, ideal for periods of high heat, with Davioud benches and enhanced lighting," according to the City Hall of Paris's 10th arrondissement, which specifies that this "new dog park replaces the dog area in Square des Maures, which is currently closed to the public for complete redevelopment and landscaping."
In addition, further developments will complement this new dog-friendly area. Dog agility equipment (dog toys) is set to be installed by the end of 2025. With this new dog park, the 10th arrondissement—home to 2,750 dogs—is offering its residents who own four-legged friends a new dedicated park where their dogs can run around in complete safety.
The City of Paris now has 38 dog parks, enclosed areas where dogs are allowed off-leash, and 140 green spaces where dogs are allowed on-leash. Visit the City of Paris website to see the list of these green spaces dedicated to dogs and dog parks.
