Due to the new orange alert "snow and ice" issued for Île-de-France, disruptions are expected to continue in Paris' public transportation system on Wednesday, January 7, 2026.

The snow and ice forecast poses a significant risk of disrupting train services across Île-de-France this Wednesday, January 7, 2026. “The snowfall that has affected Île-de-France since Monday evening is expected to continue through the night and for much of Wednesday morning. Depending on whether the snow persists overnight, disruptions are likely, mainly impacting transport that relies on road networks,” reports Île-de-France Mobilités.

On Tuesday morning, several RER and Transilien lines experienced delays or were completely halted due to a significant snowfall that hit the Île-de-France region the day before. Disruptions were particularly noticeable on RER lines A, B, C, and D, as well as on tram T4, Metro Line 1, and lines H, J, L, and P of the Transilien network. According to Île-de-France Mobilités, the network was operating at over 85% capacity by this afternoon.

By Wednesday morning, conditions are once again expected to be challenging for public transport in Paris and Île-de-France, especially as this new snowfall could be even more intense. "All precipitation will fall as snow that will immediately settle on the ground" warns Météo France in its daily bulletin issued at 4 p.m. The weather agency forecasts snowfall totals of 3 to 5 cm across Île-de-France during this episode, with localized accumulations of up to 7 cm—"more likely in the outer suburbs."

Therefore, Transport Minister Philippe Tabarot urges residents to "postpone" their travel plans within Île-de-France and to "favor telecommuting whenever possible." It’s worth noting that the departments of Yvelines, Seine-et-Marne, Essonne, and Val-d'Oise have confirmed once again the cancellation of school transportation for this January 7th.

For those who cannot work from home and need to use public transportation, it’s advised to check the schedules carefully before heading to the station. Slowed trains, cancellations, and service disruptions are expected this Wednesday.

However, the most significant disruptions are expected on the bus network. The snowfalls affecting Paris and the Île-de-France region on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, have led to a complete halt in RATP bus services. Due to challenging weather conditions and black ice, the RATP has suspended all bus lines until further notice for safety reasons. Meanwhile, the metro and RER trains remain operational to allow residents of the region to continue their commute.
