A spectacular fire broke out Friday evening in Loges-en-Josas, in the Yvelines, southwest of Paris. According to initial information from the emergency services, the blaze started around 7:15 p.m. in the Trou Salé business park, engulfing several interlinked industrial buildings. The incident particularly affects carpentry and waste-recycling companies.
At least 2,000 m² had already been destroyed on the 2,800 m² industrial site hit by the blaze. A dramatic plume of black smoke rose quickly into the sky, visible for several kilometres around, including from Paris and several nearby suburbs.
Nearly a hundred firefighters are currently deployed on the scene in an effort to bring the blaze under control. Images circulating on social media show substantial resources at work, including operations from an elevated platform.
So far, authorities have reported no casualties. Officials are asking residents in the area to stay clear of the scene to avoid hindering the ongoing response. Traffic could remain disrupted in the area for part of the evening.
