With exceptional heat, extraordinary measures: due to the heatwave, the Eiffel Tower will close to visitors from 4 p.m. every day through Friday, June 26, inclusive.

The blistering heat is piling up again at the end of June, with Paris forecast to top 40°C once more: the heat wave continues to bite France, and especially Paris, where conditions are deemed extreme. Météo France has in fact classified Paris, Île-de-France and several other departments as red alert.

The red heatwave alert remains in effect in Paris and Île-de-France this Friday, June 26, 2026, following a blistering Thursday when thermometers neared 41°C, according to Météo-France, ahead of a cooldown expected from the west. [Read more]

These scorching heatwaves are not without consequences for residents and visitors, as well as for buildings. In fact, some tourist sites are trimming visiting hours or even shutting their doors temporarily as a safety precaution. This is the case of the Tour Eiffel, which has announced once again a daily early closure through Friday, June 26, 2026 inclusive.

The Eiffel Tower will therefore close its doors from 4 p.m.. The last entry was at noon for the stairs, and 12:30 p.m. for the lifts. Visitors on-site can complete their visit, and will then be guided to the exit. The monument notes that those who had bought tickets for the afternoon will be automatically refunded.

This spell of exceptional weather has forced the Eiffel Tower’s managers to implement equally unprecedented precautions. Up high, with staircases to climb and no roof to shelter visitors from the sun, visiting the monument can be dangerous.

This measure could well be extended in the event of another heatwave: Météo France forecasts a slight drop in temperatures starting Sunday, but they could rise again in the weeks to come. Before you go, it is advised to check your email or the Eiffel Tower’s website to confirm whether the monument is accessible.
