The Cité de l’Économie will host the Établissement français du sang on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, from 12:00 to 17:00, for a blood drive open to everyone in the magnificent Defrasse Hall, air‑conditioned.
The initiative comes amid a delicate backdrop: the EFS warns that blood reserves are tight, driven by holidays, heatwaves and weaker turnout for collection drives ahead of summer. In early June, red blood cell stocks were around 75,000 units, short of the roughly 90,000 units needed for a stable level.
The blood drive will be held at the Cité de l’Économie, in the 17th arrondissement of Paris. Donors are invited to book their slot directly on the EFS website. The museum will be free for all visitors on that day, a way to combine a solidarity gesture with a cultural discovery.
Donors will also have the chance to discover the photo exhibition All Inclusive – Regards croisés sur le tourisme mondialisé, dedicated to artist Kourtney Roy. On view until September 20, 2026, the exhibition questions the codes of mass tourism and all-inclusive stays.
Patient needs don’t take a summer vacation. Accidents, surgeries, childbirth and treatment of serious illnesses require blood products all year round. The EFS reminds us that a donation lasts about one hour, with only a few minutes of actual collection, and that you should not come fasting.
This exceptional fundraising drive therefore offers an easy way to contribute to saving lives, in a heritage site rarely associated with this kind of mobilization!
