Un défilé militaire sur inscription ? This year, access to the Champs-Élysées for this Bastille Day tradition won’t be free and open: online pre-registration will be mandatory to attend the July 14 parade.

As the Eiffel Tower firework show is moved up to July 13, 2026, the July 14 civilian parade is also expected to run under special conditions. Normally, access to this traditional National Day parade is free, with spectators required to pass through security checkpoints where staff inspect bags to ensure no prohibited items enter the security perimeter.

This year, however, the public will face an extra hurdle to witness this key National Day moment in Paris on July 14 because attendance now requires advance registration: an online registration must be completed via the Elysée Palace site in order to access the parade on the Champs-Élysées, widely regarded as the most beautiful avenue in the world.
