Modernization and renovation work continue across the Parisian public transport network. While the stop is not served at République, on line 8, until 22 April 2027, disruptions are also planned this autumn on lines 6 and 13. In the coming weeks, another metro line will also be partially closed to passengers. It is the line 2. In displays already visible in the carriages of line 2, the RATP specifies that these disruptions are tied to the renovation of the viaduct tracks.
In detail, line 2 — which runs from Porte Dauphine in the west to Nation in the east — will be partially closed from Monday, October 19 to Sunday, October 25, 2026, inclusive between Barbès-Rochechouart and Père Lachaise. Also, no metro will operate between these two stations during the seven days of the shutdown. This service interruption will affect the entire day.
The stations La Chapelle, Stalingrad, Jaurès, Colonel Fabien, Belleville, Couronnes and Ménilmontant — located on the famous blue metro line — will be off limits from October 19 to 25 inclusive. As for the Père Lachaise station (connection with line 3), it will temporarily become the new terminus on line 2 for passengers arriving from Nation. Meanwhile, the Barbès-Rochechouart station will serve as the temporary terminus for travelers coming from Porte Dauphine.
Substitute buses will be put in place and will serve all closed stations. During this week of work, it is also advised to use Metro lines 4 and 5 as well as RER Line A for connections.
This partial closure of Line 2 for seven consecutive days is likely to disrupt the daily lives of many commuters aiming to reach the east or west of Paris. Moreover, the works will take place right in the middle of the Toussaint holidays.
