Bad news for Paris public transport users. New disruptions are on the way in the metro this week. This Thursday, October 8, 2026, access to the Charles de Gaulle–Étoile station will be closed from the start of service, “due to security measures requested by the Police Prefecture,” the RATP said.

This autumn, a wave of works is disrupting Metro and RER traffic in Paris and Île-de-France. On line 2, service will be interrupted between Barbès - Rochechouart and Père-Lachaise from 19 to 25 October. Meanwhile, users on line 10 will face a full line closure on 27 and 28 October from 10 p.m.

This week, with six metro stations closed this Tuesday due to the large high-school and university protest, nouvelles perturbations are expected underground.

The RATP has announced that access to the Charles de Gaulle–Étoile station will be closed from the start of service on Thursday, October 8, 2026 and until further notice. Trains will not stop there and connections are not guaranteed. "The station will reopen only by order of the Prefecture of Police," the RATP said.

Please note that the Charles de Gaulle – Étoile station is served by the RER A, as well as by metro lines 1, 2 and 6 of the metro; three lines heavily used by daily and occasional commuters.

But then, why must the Charles de Gaulle – Étoile station be closed this Thursday, October 8? On its site, the RATP announces "security measures requested by the Police Prefecture," noting that it is an official visit. A few days ago, the Élysée indeed said that Emmanuel Macron would host the German Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier during his state visit to France on October 8 and 9. On Thursday, the two heads of state will notably go to the Arc de Triomphe.
