The demonstration in Paris on Saturday, November 7, 2026 is playing out on two fronts. On one side, the inter-union coalition will set off at 2 p.m. from Place de la République and head for Place de la Nation, passing through the 3rd, 10th, 11th and 12th arrondissements, along a route approved by the police prefecture on Friday. On the other, the Yellow Vests coordination group has called for a gathering at the same time at Place de la Concorde, in the 8th arrondissement, but the event has been banned by the prefecture.
These two calls are not coming from the same organizers, but they share a common rallying cry: the high cost of living. They come two days after the cross-industry strike on Thursday, November 5, the best-attended of the fall.
November 7 demonstration in Paris: République–Nation route approved by the Paris police prefecture
The demonstration on Saturday, November 7, 2026, in Paris will not be relegated to the outskirts of the capital: the police prefecture has approved the inter-union coalition’s route for the fourth round of protests against the rising cost of living, along a route already taken this week. Friday’s surprise: the Paris Police Prefecture approved the route submitted by the inter-union coalition as early as Tuesday. On the previous two Saturdays, however, the marches had been pushed out to the Boulevards des Maréchaux, on the outskirts of the capital.
The route follows the same path as Thursday’s, between Place de la République and Place de la Nation along Boulevard Voltaire. A Paris march classic, it passes Saint-Ambroise Church and the 11th arrondissement town hall on Place Léon-Blum.
No. For its fourth act, the Yellow Vests coordination called for a “convergence rally” at Place de la Concorde at 2 p.m. and is inviting protesters from across France to join them in Paris on its official website. The coordination did not get its way: according to Actu Paris, the police prefecture banned the rally, even as it approved the unions’ route.
The organizers are nevertheless standing by their call, urging people to “disobey en masse.” As a reminder, taking part in a banned protest carries a €135 fine. On October 31, their route to Place de la Concorde was banned. So it’s best to avoid the area on Saturday afternoon if you have no reason to be there.
Yellow Vest protest, Act IV: still set for November 7 at Place de la Concorde?
Act IV of the Yellow Vests movement plays out this Saturday, November 7, 2026, in Paris. The police prefecture has just issued its decision on the gathering announced at Place de la Concorde, and the coordinating group, which has filed a complaint against the police prefect, has no intention of letting the matter rest. The previous Saturdays had shown a downward trend: 550,000 demonstrators on October 17, 410,000 on October 24, then 320,000 on October 31, including 70,000 in Paris, according to the Interior Ministry.
The Thursday, November 5 strike changed the game, with nearly 600,000 demonstrators across France, according to authorities, and “nearly 1.6 million,” according to the CGT, including 350,000 in Paris. The big question on Saturday is whether this momentum will carry through the weekend. Around 50 rallies have been announced across France, according to the tally by C'est la grève.
No list of closed metro stations has been announced for Saturday yet. On Thursday, the RATP closed 25 at the police prefecture’s request, along Boulevard Voltaire as well as around Place de la Concorde, the Champs-Élysées and Les Invalides. On October 31, around 40 metro and RER stations remained closed. Closures are likely on Saturday, particularly around Place de la Concorde.
Engineering works add to the disruption. On Saturday, the RER B is closed between Aulnay-sous-Bois and Mitry-Claye, the RER D between Stade de France-Saint-Denis and Creil, and line J between Conflans-Sainte-Honorine and Gisors. Saint-Michel station is no longer served by line 4, nor République by line 8. On Sunday, line 6 will be closed along its entire length.
