The Nuit des Musées is back for its 22nd edition in Paris and in Île-de-France: hundreds of art and culture venues invite us to an evening that’s festive and full of surprises. This event, staged across Europe, has the goal of showcasing each country’s artistic heritage by opening the doors of museums to the general public. Often free, these institutions seize the opportunity to lure in the curious and shine a light on their collections.
Instituto Cervantes is also taking part in this annual cultural rendezvous, this Saturday, May 23, 2026. The cultural institution – affiliated with the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs – aims to promote Hispanic culture and to boost Spanish language learning.
During Nuit des Musées, we're off to Paris's 8th arrondissement to discover theInstituto Cervantes and take advantage of special events, designed for children and adults alike. Without further ado, check out the evening's program and plan your visit now!
Under the title Esteban Vicente. The Path to Modernity, the exhibition surveys the artist’s philosophy, one that, in 1968, defined his work by a deep sense of reality, far from extravagance and artifice. For Vicente, this quality—as present in Cervantes’s literature or Zurbarán’s painting—translated into work that favors the sensuality of painting, the need for a structural order as the bedrock of creation, and austerity in the use of material.
Sticking to these principles, the show brings together thirty-three works created between 1950 and 1997, drawn from the Esteban Vicente Contemporary Art Museum in Segovia. Organized in collaboration with the Segovia museum and with the support of the Harriet and Esteban Vicente Foundation, it offers a unique opportunity to rediscover the essential vision of a master who made color and form his true reality.
An evening with a change of scenery, without leaving Paris, is a great idea to share with friends or family!
