Close Your Eyes, the latest film from Spanish director Victor Erice, presented in the Cannes Première selection at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival, is due in cinemas on August 16, 2023. The drama, written by Victor Erice and Michel Gaztambide, stars Manolo Solo, José Coronado and Ana Torrent. The film follows the story of Julio Arenas, a famous Spanish actor who disappears during the shooting of a film, leaving behind an unsolved mystery.
Victor Erice is a renowned director who has already been awarded the Prix du Jury at the 1992 Cannes Film Festival for his film"Le Songe de la lumière". He also presented"Le Sud" in competition in 1983 and"Ten Minutes Older: The Trumpet" in the Un Certain Regard selection in 2002.
In Close Your Eyes, several years after the disappearance of Julio Arenas, the mystery resurfaces thanks to a TV program that revisits the actor's life. The program sheds new light on the last scenes in which Julio participated, shot by his close friend, director Miguel Garay.
The film boasts an impressive cast including Manolo Solo, José Coronado and Ana Torrent. Their talent and experience should enable Victor Erice 's drama to reach new heights. The mysterious disappearance of the actor and the ensuing revelations captivated audiences and critics alike at the Cannes screening.
