Writers' and actors' strike: list of films and series postponed

For several months now, the Hollywood writers' strike has been paralyzing film and series production, and it's not going to get any better with the actors' strike, who have joined the movement. Discover the list of films and series whose release has been postponed and their new release date.

Hollywood is at a standstill! Not for decades has there been a work stoppage of this magnitude. At first, only the screenwriters were on strike, but since July 14, the actors have also shown their anger by stopping work. And there's no end in sight! Inevitably, this brings many productions to a standstill, whether films or series. And while the Emmy Awards ceremony has been postponed, some productions have seen their release dates pushed back, while others have no release date at all. We take a closer look.

Films and series postponed at major Hollywood studios

At Sony

  • Spider-Man - Beyond the Spider-Verse: originally scheduled for April 2024, postponed without a new date
  • Ghostbusters: release postponed from December 2023 to March 2024
  • Kraven the Hunter: postponed from October 2023 to August 2024
  • Karate Kid: release postponed from June 2024 to December 2024
  • Bad Boys 4: release postponed to June 2024
  • Venom 3: release delayed until July 2024

At Disney

  • Poor Creatures: release delayed from October to December 2023
  • Avatar 3: release delayed from December 2024 to December 2025
  • Avatar 4 and 5: each film delayed by three years
  • All Marvel productions halted with no resumption date
  • Andor season 2 filming interrupted with no resumption date

At Netflix

  • Stranger Things season 5: filming interrupted with no resumption date
  • Emily in Paris season 4: filming interrupted with no resumption date

And also

Productions of The Penguin series, The Last of Us season 2, American Horror Story, Severance season 2, as well as the films Gladiator 2, Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning Part 2, Minecraft, Mortal Kombat 2 and the F1 film starring Brad Pitt have all been halted without a resumption date. New release dates have not yet been set.
