Explore the history of cinema through the exhibitions at the Musée Méliès, dedicated to one of the fathers of the seventh art, Georges Méliès. Every second Thursday of the month, enjoy a self-guided cultural interlude at the Cinémathèque française outside general public opening hours, during free nocturnes reserved exclusively for young people aged 18 to 25 and students, from 6pm to 9pm.
Founded in 1936 by Henri Langlois, George Franju and Jean Mitry, the Cinémathèque Française's mission is to preserve, restore and disseminate the world's cinematographic heritage, housing 40,000 of the world's most important films. It also preserves colossal iconographic collections: 24,000 posters, 16,000 drawings/storyboards, over a million photographs, 4,000 devices and 25,000 magic lantern plates, over 2,000 costumes and set elements, as well as 33,000 archive files.
