Between daily obligations and the hectic pace of the week, finding time to escape to a museum can be tricky. Fortunately, the Musée national Jean-Jacques Henner offers a nocturne every second Thursday of the month, providing a privileged atmosphere in which to discover its collections in a more hushed and intimate setting.
Housed in a late-19ᵉ century mansion in the XVIIᵉ arrondissement (former home and studio of painter Guillaume Dubufe), the museum was inaugurated in 1924 thanks to donations from Marie Henner, widow of the artist's nephew. On display is a collection of around 300 works, as well as furniture, objects and documents tracing Jean-Jacques Henner's career - from his romantic portraits to his landscapes, including intimate sketches and his original studio spread over several levels.
