Since 1992,Acid has been showcasing singular, intrepid works by emerging independent filmmakers from France and around the world at the Cannes Film Festival. This is a real boost for these feature-length films, helping them to find an audience and a distributor - because some of these works simply don't have one yet, when they are screened during the festival.
The festival's exciting parallel selection has just unveiled its 2024 vintage! Among the films selected is Château Rouge by Hélène Milano. The French actress and director has already made several short fiction films, as well as documentaries for TV and cinema(Les Roses Noires, Les Charbons Ardents).
In Château Rouge, she films the Goutte d'Or district of Paris, the Château Rouge metro station and the Georges Clémenceau middle school. Burdened by their carefree nature and their wounds, teenagers have to grow up. They're building their personalities, losing their way, looking for themselves. Adults try to guide them, despite the violence of the system.
