As announced at the traditional press conference on April 11, the organizers of the Cannes 2024 Festival have just unveiled the latest films to join the official selection for the 77th edition of the festival, to be held on the Croisette from May 14 to 25.
There are three films in the Official Competition, andEmanuel Parvu's new feature Trois kilomètres jusqu'à la fin du monde (Three Kilometers to the End of the World) is one of them. After Meda ou le moins bon côté des choses (2017) and Mikado (2021), the Romanian actor and director is back.
Competing for the 2024 Palme d'Or, Three Kilometers to the End of the World tells the story of a teenager who discovers his homosexuality, in a conservative Romanian community. Adi, 17, is spending the summer in his native village in the Danube delta. One night, he is brutally attacked in the street, and the next day his world is turned upside down. His parents no longer look at him the way they used to, and the village's apparent tranquility begins to crack.
