In the heart of Paris's 11th arrondissement, Out of the Blue combines a wine bar and cinema for the curious and cinephiles alike. With arthouse short films, natural wines, and a cozy lounge atmosphere, here you can sip, nibble, and immerse yourself in an experience that is unusual, creative, and convivial all at once.

Out of the Blue is the go-to hub for curious wanderers and film buffs in Paris’s 11th arrondissement, tucked along Rue Saint-Maur between the Atelier des Lumières and Père-Lachaise. A wine bar and cinema in one—yes, both—inventing the evening out. Here you sip, you watch, you discover, all in a lounge-y, moquette-soaked vibe with a mirrored ceiling and no traditional bar counter, replaced by a small kitchen corner that shakes up the usual rules.

CHAUD DEVANT

Tuesday, June 23, 2026 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Out of the Blue invites you on a Taiwan journey through flavors and imagery. The program features a screening of Ang Lee’s film 'Eat drink man woman' in a continuous showing at the micro-cinema, plus typical Taiwanese snacks created by chef Tavi Chen. On the menu: Taiwanese rice ball (rice, grilled pork, braised egg, youtiao, shiso pickles, Taiwanese mustard leaf pickles; 8€), Golden kimchi rice ball (rice, golden kimchi, youtiao, smoked and marinated tofu; 8€) and fried chicken with fermented tofu, radish with marinated plums (11€). Reservations here!

From Thursday to Saturday, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., you can watch a series of free (and no reservation required) short films by Lynch, Herzog, and other giants of the genre. While you're there, grab a glass of natural wine: white or red for €6, sparkling or surprising "blouge"—this bold white-red-rosé blend by Pépin—for €8. Team non-alcoholic? A sparkling grape juice from local winemakers (no added sugar) for €6 or a rooibos tea, hot or iced, will do the trick perfectly.

For snacks, there's cheese from the Source cheese shop and salted or sweet popcorn, because cinema is still a sport that's best enjoyed with your hands full.

On Sundays, Out of the Blue switches to family mode once a month, with a children's screening from 4pm to 6pm—parents toast at the bar while the little ones enjoy the cinema. Then, every Sunday evening, it's time for the film club, which requires reservations, with a carefully selected feature film.

Go upstairs for a drink, downstairs for the ten-seat screening room, and above all, enjoy a sophisticated yet accessible program, which can be viewed on the venue's Instagram account. The name, inspired by Dennis Hopper's cult film (1980), captures the spirit of the place and its love of arthouse cinema. Chloé, also a director, imagined this space to stimulate discovery and create connections—a place where cinema and wine come together to create an unusual, creative, and convivial experience!
