The 50th edition of the César Awards, celebrating the talent and creativity of the 7th art, takes place this Friday evening at the legendary Parisian venue L'Olympia. This major event in French cinema brings together a host of stars, including Pierre Niney, Justine Triet, Pio Marmaï, François Civil and Emmanuelle Béart. Renowned actor and director Jean-Pascal Zadi is in charge of hosting this prestigious evening.
This year's ceremony highlights films with a popular resonance, with nominations for "The Count of Monte Cristo", "En fanfare" and "L'Amour ouf" in the Best Film category. Jacques Audiard 's musical "Emilia Perez " is also a favorite. Also in the running to succeed 2024 winner "Anatomie d'une chute" are "L'Histoire de Souleymane " and "L'Histoire de Souleymane".
Two emblematic figures of international cinema will receive an honorary César during the evening: Julia Roberts and Costa-Gavras. A fitting tribute to their remarkable careers.
To follow the event live, tune in to Canal+ en clair, the historic broadcaster of the César Awards since 1994, from 8:45pm. Every year, this channel plays a key role in financing French cinema, despite regular tensions with streaming platforms over film release times.
This Friday evening, the Minister of Culture, Rachida Dati, is expected to be among the guests. As usual, the ceremony will be punctuated by engaging speeches, artistic reflections and highlights. Don't miss this great evening of French cinema.
