And that's two for Michael Angelo Covino. After The Climb, awarded the Coup de Coeur du Jury in the Un Certain Regard section in 2019, and his role as a member of the Un Certain Regard jury in 2021, the American filmmaker returns to tread the red steps of the Cannes Festival 2025 for the presentation of his second feature, Splitsville, in the Cannes Première section.
At the press conference to present the festival's 2025 vintage, general delegate Thierry Frémaux declared: "Michael Angelo Covino, you know his name because his film The Climb, which began with the climb of a pass in the South of France by bicycle, was presented in Un Certain Regard. He's back with the same kind of cinema, an adult sentimental comedy."
The cast includes Michael Angelo Covino himself, as well as Dakota Johnson and Adria Arjona.
Splitsville will premiere at the Cannes Film Festival 2025. The official release date for French cinemas has yet to be announced.
Synopsis : After his wife requests a divorce, Carey turns to his friends Julie and Paul for comfort. It’s then that he discovers their secret to happiness — they’re living a free-spirited, open relationship.
