While the vast majority of"The Summer I Became Pretty" was shot in North Carolina, with the family's lovely home in Wilmington (Cousins in the series), the last three episodes of the latest season take us and Belly to Paris, the French capital. A little less fantasized than in Emily in Paris, where clichés abounded, the city seems a little more realistic.
In episode 9, after landing atRoissy airport, she gets off at Censier Daubenton station, where she has to find her school, which doesn't exist in real life, but is located at theInstitut de paléontologie humaine. She lands in the café Le Descartes, where her bag is stolen. After a chase through the city to find it, she takes the Roissy Bus again, but ends up in Paris, before somehow landing in front of Notre-Dame Cathedral , which is under construction.
Later, in episode 10, she lives in the Canal Saint-Martin district, where we see the Maria-Schneider footbridge, and picks up her pain au chocolat at the Du pain et des idées bakery. She also works to pay the rent at theEcoles Cinéma Club, in the 5th arrondissement, and at the Bistrot Coquelicot, next to the Place de la Nation.
At the end of the episode, she gets back her friend's apartment, strictly impossible to rent for the average person, and certainly not with her undeclared wages, but never mind, it's a movie!
Of course, she lives right in the heart of Montmartre, not far from the Basilique du Sacré-Cœur, where she has an exceptional view, with a scene similar to the film Sabrina, starring Audrey Hepburn, which she mentions to her mother on the phone. We found the famous staircase she descends and retraced her steps to her apartment on rue du Chevalier de la Barre.
She continues down this street until she reaches number 23, where she lives. A little further down the street are the red barriers where Conrad lands in the last episode. As she shows Conrad around the city, the tour bus passes theArc de Triomphe, stops in front of the Dôme des Invalides, before they head off to Versailles and its Château, certainly with the RER C, where we see the park and the Galerie des Glaces, among other things.
She then takes him to a rooftop overlooking the Sacré-Coeur and theEglise de la Sainte Trinité, which appears to be a rooftop near Galeries Lafayette as you can see the rue de la Chaussée d'Antin. And all this in a single day, which seems very extendable.
That evening, on the way back from her pre-birthday party, they dance on the Place Louis Aragon, at the end of theIle Saint-Louis. After returning home and a sleepless night, she jumps into a cab and runs through the middle of the Gare du Nord to catch up with Conrad, who is already on his train, en route to Brussels.
What better way to stroll around the capital in the footsteps of the two lovebirds!
