A new cine-club dedicated to teen movies is settling in at Pathé Les Fauvettes, in the 13th arrondissement of Paris. Named 2H DE COLLE, this monthly gathering will run through September with a lineup of five films centered on the big themes of adolescence, blending screenings, discussions and activities designed to extend the spectator experience.
Launched by Clémence Cayrel and Fanny Garcin, the project aims to examine the role of the teen movie in popular culture and how youth is portrayed in cinema. Sexuality, friendship, coming of age, social norms or rebellion: each screening builds on a cult or contemporary film to spark a discussion about teenage experiences and their portrayal on screen.
The opening screening, held in April around La Folle Journée de Ferris Bueller by John Hughes, was accompanied by a talk from journalist John Prate. The cycle now continues with several iconic films of the genre:
Across the screenings, the format ranges from Q&As with researchers and film specialists to group activities and lighter, more festive moments. The organizers say they aimed to carve out a space for a genre too often reduced to clichés, even though for many it serves as a genuine gateway to cinema and a mirror of teenage concerns across generations.
The film club is aimed primarily at young adult cinephiles, fans of popular culture, and viewers who grew up with these films. All screenings take place at Pathé Les Fauvettes on Avenue des Gobelins in Paris, with one screening per month until the autumn term begins.
