Continuing from the 2009 film Petit Nicolas, the movie returns to the world imagined by René Goscinny and Jean-Jacques Sempé. This time, Nicolas leaves school for the summer holidays: traveling with his parents and his grandmother, he heads to the coast and checks into the Beau-Rivage Hotel.
On the beach, Nicolas makes new friends—Blaise, Fructueux, Djodjo, Crépin and Côme. He also meets Isabelle, a little girl whose gaze unsettles him, and whom he believes is fated to become his future wife. Misunderstandings then pile up against the backdrop of a family vacation.
Laurent Tirard continues his adaptation of Goscinny and Sempé’s stories, relocating the action to a fictional seaside resort inspired by holidays from the 1950s and 1960s. Filming took place notably in Vendée, on Noirmoutier Island, with Plage des Dames serving as the principal backdrop.
