Le Louxor - Palais du Cinéma: a temple to the 7th art in a unique setting

Renovated and inaugurated in 2013, Le Louxor cinéma shines in the middle of Paris's 10th arrondissement with its atypical architecture, listed as a historic monument.

Like a phoenix rising from its ashes, Le Louxor stands among Paris' cinemas in the 10th arrondissement since its major renovation in 2013. Registered as a historic monument since 1981, this cinema with its striking Egyptian-inspired décor features three screening rooms. The Youssef-Chahine Grand Hall, named in homage to the Egyptian filmmaker, seats 342 and presents a spectacular setting with two balconies. It has been fully renovated while remaining faithful to the neo-Egyptian original décor. A painstaking archival study was also conducted to recapture the venue’s original spirit, reproducing hieroglyphs and silhouettes of women. Even the starry ceiling of the second 140-seat room evokes the starlit vault of Egyptian tombs.

The building, wheelchair-accessible, offers visitors a bar on the second floor and a terrace on the third with a unique view of the Sacré-Cœur. A spot to unwind before or after a screening, as the Louxor Bar serves light bites and artisanal wines.

Beyond its striking architecture, the Louxor - Palais du Cinéma treats cinema-goers to a diverse lineup, screening both national releases and art-house films, the venue being categorized in this register. But that’s not all! Family screenings, cine-concerts, previews, film club, opera... Louxor stacks up activities for a broad audience. In short, a place to discover or re-discover!

Located in the Barbès district of Paris, there are plenty of little spots to enjoy after a good cinema session. For example, right opposite the cinema sits the Brasserie Barbès. On the same street you’ll also find the Théâtre des Bouffes du Nord or the concert hall La Cigale. About a ten-minute walk away, you can visit the famous Sacré-Cœur Basilica or have a drink at the Ice Kube, a cocktail bar inside an ice-themed setting!
