The Cannes Film Festival 2025 is drawing to a close. Over the past dozen sunny days, we've laughed, we've cried, we've loved and even adored some of the films in the various selections, including the Directors' Fortnight,Un Certain Regard, Semaine de la Critique andAcid, but we've also hated some of the works.
In the official competition, 22 films were in the running for the Palme d'Or and the other prizes awarded on the evening of Saturday May 24. Every year, the Cannes Film Festival jury awards 7 prizes - in order of prestige: the Palme d'Or for the best film; the Grand Prix, the second most important prize; the Prix du Jury for a film that the jury as a whole has appreciated; the Prix d'interprétation masculine for the best actor; the Prix d'interprétation féminine for the best actress; the Prix de la mise en scène for the best direction of the competition; and the Prix du Scénario for the most successful screenplay.
French actress Juliette Binoche had the honor of presiding over the Cannes 2025 Festival jury. She was joined by American actress and filmmaker Halle Berry, Indian director and screenwriter Payal Kapadia, Italian actress Alba Rohrwacher, French-Moroccan writer Leïla Slimani, Congolese director, documentary filmmaker and producer Dieudo Hamadi, Korean director and screenwriter Hong Sangsoo, Mexican director, screenwriter and producer Carlos Reygadas, and American actor Jeremy Strong.
We're ready to make our predictions. So, who's going to win the Palme d'Or and the other prestigious awards at the 78th Cannes Film Festival ? Between the films we'd like to see rewarded and those that should be, our hearts sway. Discover our heart predictions here!
