For over 20 years, the Sims franchise has reigned supreme in the realm of life simulation games. It's hard to imagine the ultra-popular saga losing its crown. And yet, a new competitor was announced on March 6, 2023, and it's already got fans of the genre very excited.
Paradox Interactive has unveiled a short trailer for Life by You, a simulator of everyday life. The basic game costs 39.99 euros, with DLC planned to enrich the gaming experience. This new title will be available on Steam and Epic Games Store.Early access to the game is due to open on March 5, 2024 for those who pre-ordered the game on Epic Games Store. Note that early access allows you to play the game while it's still in development: you can therefore expect to encounter a few bugs and limited graphics, which should disappear in the final version.
Purchasing the game in advance also entitles you to three additional content packs: Jumpstart fashion pack, Vehicle: vintage scooter and Walls to floors decor pack.
Paradoxe Interactive aims to make Life by You an open-world PC game. The rest of the gameplay elements are very similar to EA's Sims. Characters are customizable, you can create buildings from scratch, create lives for your characters... The use and creation of mods is also encouraged. An important gameplay element that should set Life by You apart from its competitors: the game could allow you to create your own conversation options , so you can personalize your gaming experience as you wish.
The similarities between The Sims and Life by You are no coincidence. The new game is being developed by Paradoxe Tectonic studio, which is headed by Rob Humble. Does his name ring a bell? Of course: he was executive director of Second Life, and executive vice-president of EA, during the development of The Sims 2 and 3. So, he's a master in his field.
With him at the helm, gamers can look forward to a well-rounded new simulation game. This hope is reinforced by the reputation of Life by You's publisher: Paradox Interactive. This video game house has a proven track record in the field of simulation games, having produced Cities: Skylines and Cities: Skylines II.
