We didn't believe in it anymore, but it's back: Professor Layton embarks on a new mystery-filled adventure on Nintendo Switch.

For a surprise, it's a surprise... Professor Layton appeared on the Nintendo Direct of February 8, 2023: a new game is in the works for Nintendo Switch. Very good news for all fans of the saga, who had long given up on the idea of another Level-5 puzzle game. scheduled for release in 2025

It has to be said that the last Professeur Layton game dates back to 2013: Professeur Layton et l'Héritage des Aslantes was released on Nintendo 3DS. A spin-off did come out on Switch, but it wasn't as successful as the previous games: L'Aventure Layton failed to convince fans.

So it's time for a celebration. The famouspuzzle-loving professor and his faithful Luke return for a new investigation full of twists and turns, and above all puzzles, with Professor Layton and the New Steam World.

Since this announcement, no further information has been released about the game... Until Level-5 orchestrated a live presentation on November 29. During this presentation, an exclusive trailer was unveiled, as well as a release date: we'll have to wait until 2025 to discover this new opus from Professor Layton.

Trailer for Professeur Layton et le Nouveau Monde à Vapeur :

Game synopsis:

" This game depicts the world one year after the events of "Professor Layton and the Lost Destiny". The story takes place in Steam Bison, America. There, the power of highly advanced steam engines has enabled the creation of a new world, far surpassing the technological development of London. Due to a mysterious incident at Steam Bison, a new adventure for Professor Layton and Luke begins."

As apprentice detectives, we prepare for an unprecedented journey into a new world of metal and steam. The aesthetic of the Layton games is back, with landscapes loaded with elements - and clickable locations.

The next opus in the saga will once again be point-and-click, as we discover in this new trailer from Level-5. A gameplay system that's not the most suitable for Nintendo Switch, but one of the trademarks of the successful license.

We discover slightly revised graphics, 3D cinematics, as for the 3DS, and a puzzle that requires us to use our environment directly... However, many elements may change between now and the game's release, so it's still very mysterious.

Professor Layton is back. But we'll have to be patient: the game won't be released until 2025. Perhaps that's a good opportunity for us to replay all the previous opuses...
