Visit the Dordogne and enjoy its gentle way of life in this 100% French indie game, available since June 13, 2023 on PC, Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox X/S.

French creation is in the spotlight this June: developers Umanimation and Un je ne sais quoi, and publisher Focus Entertainment unveil their latest game: Dordogne. This narrative game takes us on a journey of initiation, discovering the beautiful Dordogne region, and especially Mimi's past. The game was released on June 13, 2023 on PC, Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox X/S.

This accessible adventure for gamers of all ages showcases the skills of the creators: all landscapes, all scenes were created in watercolor. The line between video game and animated film is blurred in this dreamlike work, which plunges us into an idyllic summer vacation.

If you haven't yet discovered this game, don't hesitate: Dordogne was awarded the prize for visual excellence at the Pégases 2024 ceremony.

Trailer for Dordogne:

Dordogne Synopsis:

" Plunge into the heart of a unique narrative experience, along a vibrant initiatory journey that will awaken your senses and reconnect you with your buried emotions. Play the role of Mimi, and embark on an exploration of precious childhood moments and memories shared with your late grandmother. Confront your adult choices with your sweet childhood dreams, and unveil forgotten family secrets.

We take on the role of Mimi, a young woman whose life is falling into chaos. Redundancy, a break-up with her lover, the death of her grandmother: Mimi needs to take stock, and make a fresh start. And the best way to do that is to delve into the past... Mimi becomes the little girl who spent thesummer of 1984 at her grandmother's in the Dordogne. In the course of our exploration, from forest to river, via the family home to the town of Sarlat-la-Canéda, we rediscover magnificent landscapes and activities that revive our childhood emotions. And, in the process, we lift the veil on a few family secrets...

Our opinion :

Playing time: around three hours, 50% of the story completed. Game tested on PS5

Dordogne delivers on its promise: the game looks great, and lets us discover an idyllic corner of the French region, while giving us a sense of nostalgia for those carefree, sunny summers we may have known when we were younger.

We love exploring each corner of the map, unlocked little by little as the story unfolds. With each new chapter, our curiosity is aroused as events and family secrets are revealed. Photographs, collages, poems, collectable stickers: all these little treasures rekindle our childlike spirit and encourage us to take the time to look around us, to enjoy every moment.

The difficulty of the game is adapted to the youngest players, and the controls can be learned quickly: everything is done to make the experience fun and relaxing. For summer fun and vacation relaxation, this is the perfect title!

Dordogne does suffer from a few minor flaws, however, which are not real obstacles to the gameplay experience. First of all, there are a few persistent bugs, which sometimes cause the character to get stuck in corners, forcing us to exit and then re-enter the game.

On the console, you interact with elements using a small pointer, which you move around. This pointer is often difficult to see, due to its small size and color, which often blends into the background. It's especially hard to recognize at the very start of the game, when you don't yet know how it works!

But these few shortcomings in no way detract from this lovely Dordogne adventure, which should delight young and old alike. It's a trip you won't regret!

The Dordogne game offers a wonderful escape to the rhythm of south-western France. A game not to be missed this summer!
