Here, choosing your bed is no small decision. At Hästens, you’re not just lining up mattresses to compare before checkout: the Swedish brand centers on sleep, support, and bespoke comfort, with beds whose construction still relies largely on handcraftsmanship.
Based at 52 Rue de l’Université, in the 7th arrondissement, the Paris boutique showcases the brand’s different lines, from the Essential models to the most exclusive beds. Notably on offer are the Maranga, Eala, Herlewing or 2000T collections, as well as the ultra-luxury Vividus. The price tags set the tone: the first models run in the several-thousand-euro range, while the Vividus tops the line, well beyond €300,000.
Founded in 1852 in Köping, Sweden, Hästens makes its beds from natural materials such as horsehair, cotton, wool, linen and wood. Horsehair, one of the brand’s emblematic materials, is particularly prized for its ventilation and elasticity. The different layers are paired with spring systems to tailor the bed’s support and comfort.
And since sleep isn’t something you choose at random, the shop also offers a Sleep Spa Session: a private consultation with a consultant to try out different levels of support and determine which best matches your sleeping style. The Paris address is also among the authorized distributors to present the Vividus, custom-made by nine artisans and requiring about 45 days of work.
As for the famous blue-and-white Hästens check, it’s hard to miss: having become the house’s visual signature, it adds the brand’s beds and accessories.
Long story short, here, a lie-in has gone upmarket.
