The Journées Particulières 2026 in Paris: Fred opens his doors and dusts off his archival pieces

Fred marks its 90th birthday by opening its archives to the public. From October 16–18, 2026, the brand takes part in the Journées Particulières, offering a free tour of its Rue de la Paix boutique that centers on its history and expertise. Organized by the LVMH group, the event brings together 46 maisons across 69 venues in 12 countries under the theme At the Roots of a Dream. At Fred, the journey goes back to the very start of a jewelry piece, from the initial sketch to the choice of stones.

The story begins in Paris in 1936, when Fred Samuel founded his jewelry house. Light and the sea quickly became two major sources of inspiration, nourished in particular by his ties to the French Riviera. This sunlit imagination continues to enrich the collections, with a pronounced love of color, movement, and plays of light. Yet behind this carefree tone, each piece demands meticulous precision: sketch, gouache, stone selection, and then the jewel is crafted, pacing the work before it is housed in its final setting.

For this anniversary, Fred is dusting off a few pages from his family album. The tour offers a chance to get up close to historic pieces and to understand how an idea gradually takes shape into a piece of jewelry. Visitors will also have a go at gouache, the essential drawing technique in jewelry design, and will become familiar with the diamond expertise of the House.
