In Montmartre, the monsters have their address year‑round. There’s only one for him, at 5, rue Lepic, in the 18th arrondissement of Paris, houses a décor shop and a small museum devoted to the owner’s personal collection. People come here to pick up a mask, prepare for Halloween, or take a closer look at some figures from fantasy and horror cinema. To access the exhibition space, tucked away at the back of the store, you must pay 2 € once: the entry is then valid for life, as the brand’s site specifies.
On the shop side, the décorations d’Halloween and masks take pride of place (we visited ahead of Halloween, editor's note), with a few costumes as well.
The store is very small: items jostle in a space where you scan both the shelves and what sits above your head. An ambient soundtrack accompanies the visit, setting the tone even before you reach the collection.
In the museum section, Chucky and Annabelle sit alongside clowns, Buffy the Vampire Slayer figurines, and the Frankenstein creature. A Coraline doll with button eyes also features in the collection. You can spot masks of Jack Skellington and the three troublemakers from The Nightmare Before Christmas, as well as Billy, the Saw puppet. The references blend—from fantasy to films far less comforting. These pieces belong to the owner's collection; only some duplicates may be offered for sale, depending on availability (everything is handled via the retailer's Instagram account). Note also that nothing gore-related is on display, and children are not barred from entry. Inside, with the spaces being tight, you’ll also have to carry your bags (rucksacks and others) by hand.
The store's appearance evolves with the seasons. At Christmas, holiday-focused items take center stage; in summer, the range tilts more toward gardening. The collection section, for its part, preserves its eerie universe. A seasonal shift that allows festive spirit and nightmare motifs to coexist just a few metres apart.
