On Rue de Grenelle in Paris, Rubirosa’s puts beautiful shirts, colorful pajamas and soft loafers back at the heart of the wardrobe. A unisex fashion boutique conceived by Lauren Rubinski, it’s set in a retro interior that’s well worth a look too.

A well-cut shirt, a cashmere sweater, leather loafers... On paper, nothing revolutionary. But at Rubirosa's, at 37 rue de Grenelle in Paris's 7th arrondissement, these classics take on a whole new look. The cuts remain understated, the fabrics are carefully chosen, but when it comes to color, there’s more than the same old black, white and navy. Here, even pyjamas have a say in matters of elegance.

Opened in 2025 by Lauren Rubinski, already known for her jewellery designs, the boutique draws on a family history closely tied to clothing. Her father, Bruno Rubinski, was a shirtmaker, while her grandfather worked in the textile trade and supplied poplin to the Vatican, among others. The designer inherited this appreciation for fine fabrics, impeccable cuts and pieces to keep rather than replace every season.

The selection focuses on a unisex wardrobe: cotton poplin shirts, styles with piping or patch pockets, pajamas, cashmere sweaters, dress slippers and soft leather loafers. The clothes come in a particularly generous range of shades, from understated tones to bolder colors. One small but significant detail: some shirts feature an embroidered “R” at the cuff, and the store also offers a custom embroidery service on Saturdays.

As for the decor, it’s certainly no mere backdrop. Conceived by Louis Charles Aka, it combines red carpeting, dark wood paneling, Venetian blinds, velvet banquettes and lacquered shelves where clothes are arranged like precious books. A few portraits of historical figures complete the retro salon atmosphere, somewhere between a former luxury haberdashery and a Wes Anderson film set.

The name itself has character: it refers to Porfirio Rubirosa, a Dominican diplomat and dandy famed for his elegance and high-society lifestyle. A fitting name for a house that pays as much attention to style as to detail.

Rubirosa's is betting on a more old-fashioned way to shop: stepping inside, feeling the fabrics, trying on the cuts and choosing the right shade. A destination for those who love beautiful basics but refuse to let their wardrobe be as monotonous as a uniform.
