What if you brought home a souvenir from your favorite Parisian restaurant or café? At the Palais-Royal, GIFTSHOP puts a fresh spin on merchandise from the capital’s institutions in a one-of-a-kind store.

We know the “I Love Paris” T-shirts and miniature Eiffel Towers, but Paris souvenirs are no longer limited to these classics. In Paris, a new generation of shops prefers to celebrate the cafés, restaurants and hangouts that give the capital its identity. That’s exactly the approach taken by GIFTSHOP. Opened in early 2026 at 8 rue de Valois, in the 1st arrondissement, this Palais-Royal boutique turns Paris’s iconic spots into collections of items to wear, use or keep.

Behind the concept is Mathieu Lebreton, who launched GIFTSHOP in 2023 with an idea: to create souvenirs that capture the spirit of the establishments Parisians hold dear. The shop works with cafés, brasseries, restaurants and other French institutions to develop their own official collections. Its catalogue includes plates inspired by renowned Parisian restaurants, coffee cups, glasses, clothing, accessories and even unexpected items such as vinyl records and vintage finds.

Bringing together contemporary objects and vintage finds, the selection draws on everything from tableware and fashion to the bistro world. The collections evolve through collaborations, featuring items associated in particular with Café de Flore, Bistrot Paul Bert, La Fontaine de Mars, and other establishments less well known to the general public.

The choice of location is no coincidence. 8 rue de Valois was once home to Le Bœuf à la Mode, a historic restaurant that opened in the late 18th century and was frequented by writers and other notable figures of the time. Today, the address is back in business in a very different capacity, while retaining a connection to Paris’s restaurant scene.

With its blend of design, culinary heritage and popular culture, GIFTSHOP appeals to foreign visitors and Parisians alike, especially those looking for a less predictable gift. Sometimes all it takes is a pretty cup or a bistro glass to bring back memories of a lovely evening.
