The Ramparts Race 2026: two courses from 6 to 18 km through the medieval town of Provins (77)

Here’s a genuinely original running event! The 2026 edition of the Course des Remparts de Provins takes place this year on Saturday, October 4, to the delight of runners from Île-de-France who are expected for this legendary race at the heart of Provins’s medieval city, a UNESCO World Heritage site. It’s a chance to discover this historic town in a different way, via two course options to choose from: 6.3 or 18.3 kilometers. Be warned: the climbs are steep, between the upper town and the lower town.

For this new edition, you’ll traverse the Boulevard d’Aligre along the river before tackling the notorious climb up to the Cat’s Hole. The ascent continues to Porte de Jouy, where the cobbles lead you to the medieval Place du Châtel place du Châtel and its superb half-timbered houses. Then you’ll reach the city’s iconic viewpoints at the summit, from the stunning Collégiale Ste Quiriace to the Tour César and Hôtel Savigny. You exit via Porte Saint-Jean, skirting the ramparts and their towers, before winding down into the valley along the shaded banks of the Fausse Rivière!

As you’ll have gathered, this stunning route through the town will let you discover its magnificent medieval architecture. Moats, ramparts, fortifications, and half-timbered houses... it’s like running through Provins’s past! It’s also a charity race, supporting the Dravet Syndrome Alliance and the Ligue against Cancer, complemented by musicians and activities along the course.
