Duels at the Conciergerie: the sporting event returns; discover fencing inside a Parisian monument

They left a lasting impression, and it's hard to forget the emotions they stirred. In the summer of 2024, Paris welcomed the Olympic and Paralympic Games, which became the stage for a host of sporting feats. The event offered many of us the chance to discover and enjoy new sports. But now, it's time to put theory into practice!

The Conciergerie is being reinvented as an unconventional gym, with the event Duels at the Conciergerie : a one-of-a-kind weekend when visitors can watch fencing bouts and even give this fascinating sport a try themselves. On Saturday May 30 and Sunday May 31, 2026, beneath the vaulted ceilings of the Paris monument, memorable fencing duels will await us!

Patrick Groc, State-certified fencing instructor and former member of the French foil team, medallist at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games, will be on hand to lead the weekend and teach the basics of fencing.

Demonstrations and introductions to epee, sabre and foil will be held throughout the weekend, for the curious of all ages. It's an opportunity to practice an ancient but often little-known sport, and to discover a new passion... If you don't want to fight, with weapon in hand, this weekend should still be a great time, thanks to the demonstrations taking place in the heart of this grandiose monument.
