On Sunday, July 12, 2026, Ironman makes its debut in Versailles, set against the backdrop of the Palace of the Sun King. This inaugural 70.3 triathlon — representing half the distance of a standard Ironman, totaling 113 kilometers — promises a race through one of the most iconic royal estates in the world, located in the Yvelines region.
The event features a stunning course: 1.9 kilometers of swimming, 90 kilometers of cycling, and a half marathon — 21.1 kilometers of running — all set amidst the grandeur of one of Europe’s most celebrated royal residences.
The athletes will kick off their triathlon with a swim in the stunning “Pièce d’Eau des Suisses”, a vast 13-hectare lake carved out between 1679 and 1682 by a regiment of Swiss Guards, with the majestic Château de Versailles as a breathtaking backdrop. For the cycling leg, competitors will take on a scenic, rolling loop through the heart of Versailles and its surroundings, including the picturesque Chevreuse Valley with its charming villages.
For your run, you'll start by revisiting the Pièce d’Eau des Suisses before crossing the King’s Garden, a historic vegetable garden established under Louis XIV to supply the royal court with the finest fruits and vegetables. Then, you'll wind through the historic streets of Versailles, including the avenue de Paris, which runs opposite the Château and serves as the finish line. It's an exceptional triathlon set to take place in mid-July, right in the heart of summer, with swimming segments providing a cool-off for participants during the heatwave!
Registration opens to the public on Thursday, February 12, 2026.
