Most activities are free, but the majority require making a reservation by email to the estate at domainedevillarceaux@iledefrance.fr. Capacity is deliberately limited for the nocturnal walks and family tours, so it's wise to book well in advance. For the Journées du patrimoine gourmand, information goes through the Association des Amis du domaine de Villarceaux, and a free shuttle links the upper car park to the garden entrance. Finally, picnics are only permitted during the "Samedis à la campagne" as part of the "Villarceaux sans déchet" initiative: bring your basket and take your rubbish with you.

A few caveats, though. The grounds are vast and rolling, so bring sturdy shoes and something warm for the evening, even in August. The orangery isn’t accessible to visitors with mobility impairments, and the late-night walks end late, making them less suitable for very young children. Without a car, getting here is tricky outside the Baladobus season.
