Craving a quick escape to Seine-et-Marne and Essonne, and more specifically into the Fontainebleau forest? Known for being an exceptional natural space, a hotspot for climbing as well as for hiking, the Fontainebleau forest is a magnet for outdoor-sports enthusiasts.
Fontainebleau is the cradle of climbing: more than a century ago, this is where the first outdoor sports enthusiasts uncovered the potential of this forest unique in France, a disorienting natural haven, unlike other Île-de-France forests. Today, this natural space has become the go-to spot for countless hikes, as the forest offers several marked trails that invite you to explore the wonders of this territory. From the Elephant Rock to the Gorges d'Apremont, via the Affolantes de Bois-le-Roi, the bucolic village of Barbizon... It’s a land of a thousand secrets. So, to come and discover it, the most practical option will likely be to opt for one or more overnight stays at a campsite!
In the heart of the Fontainebleau forest, in Milly-la-Forêt, the Musardière campsite welcomes you to its mobile homes (permanent or rental) or, for the more adventurous, to one of its 200 pitches for tents, vans, and motorhomes...
On-site, don’t miss the outdoor pool, perfect for cooling off in hot weather, or the various sport facilities. Volleyball courts, pétanque, a teqball table, a playground for kids, a trampoline, a sauna... Expect 7.80 € per adult per day, 5 € per child under 7, 7.10 € to 11.60 € per night for motorhomes or vans, and 3.70 € to 6 € for a night with a tent (rates 2026).
A great place to sleep under the stars and soak up the tranquility of the surrounding nature, in the Fontainebleau Forest!
