It’s a first for the horse-loving city. On the occasion of the 2026 World Cup, Maisons-Laffitte, in the Yvelines (78), is setting up a fan-zone on Place du Maréchal-Juin to rally supporters of the France team. From Tuesday, June 16 to Sunday, July 19, 2026, four evenings of screenings on a giant screen are scheduled, all starting at 21:00. It’s the city’s way, more accustomed to equestrian shows at its racetrack than to the roar of the football crowd, of launching a festive summer between the Fête de la Musique, the merchants’ festival and a range of activities.
The city has lined up four dates, starting with the Blues’ first two matches, followed by the tournament’s marquee showdowns:
All matches will be shown at 9 p.m. Naturally, we’re keeping our fingers crossed that Didier Deschamps's men are still in contention by mid-July, which would spark a fiery atmosphere in the town square. There will be no broadcast for the third group-stage match against Iraq, scheduled for 11 p.m.
For its inaugural edition, the municipality is aiming for a family-friendly, secure setting with a capacity capped at 600 people. Place du Maréchal-Juin will be fully closed off, neighboring streets cut off to traffic, and entry will be controlled. To access the Maisons-Laffitte fan zone, you must wear a bracelet, which can be picked up at the Tourist Office starting June 1, upon presenting a proof of residence, or on the day itself at the entrance, subject to bracelet availability. Given the strong demand observed since reservations opened, it’s advised not to leave this to the last minute. The layout of the setup can be found on the town’s website.
On the atmosphere front, the city leans into a welcoming vibe: nearby restaurants and shops keep snacks and drinks flowing throughout the event, giving fans a chance to grab a bite before kickoff or during halftime. Inside the fan zone, only beer and non-alcoholic beverages are on offer, served in plastic cups, with spirits barred to preserve the family-friendly feel of the evenings.
This fan zone welcomes both families from Mans and football fans from the surrounding area, provided you plan ahead for your wristband. And if you're looking for other spots to cheer on the Blues in the department, follow the guide.
