Regional folk songs are in the spotlight on France 3 this Friday, January 5, 2024, on the occasion of the"Grand Concours des Régions". Presented by Cyril Féraud, this all-new musical program pits 10 regions of France against 250 singers in traditional costumes, ready to defend the emblematic folk songs of their region on stage at the Royal Palace in Alsace, against a jury including Vincent Niclo, Marie Myriam, Magali Ripoll and André Manoukian.
So, who has the honor of representing the Île-de-France region in this 2024 edition of the"Grand Concours des Régions"? It's artist Anne-Sophie Guerrier. An emblematic figure of the capital's 18th arrondissement, Anne-Sophie Guerrier is the creator of the"Montmartre en chansons" tour, a unique concept that combines some 30 unusual locations, 20 French songs performed a cappella by the artist, and numerous anecdotes linked to the singers and the history of the legendary Butte Montmartre. Since then, the artist has even adapted this stroll into a musical and theatrical show, playing this January at the Théâtre Montmartre Galabru in Paris.
Anne-Sophie Guerrier is also known for giving unusual concerts from a window in the Rue des Abbesses, during the Fête de la Musique and the Fête des Vendanges de Montmartre.
For the"Grand Concours des Régions", Anne-Sophie Guerrier and her Montmartre-based troupe - Les P'tits Poulbots de Montmartre - will perform two songs:"C'est la guinguette" (Damia) and"Où est-il donc?" (Fréhel).
So, Corsican polyphony, shepherd songs from the Pyrenees, Breton bagad or Parisian guinguette? Which will be the best folk song in France 2024? The answer on Friday, January 5, 2024 from 9:10pm on France 3.
