Following Austria's victory with JJ and his song "Wasted Love", the 70th edition of Eurovision will be hosted in Austria, specifically at the Wiener Stadthalle, Vienna's largest indoor arena. The semi-finals are scheduled for Tuesday, May 12, and Thursday, May 14, with the grand final set for Saturday, May 16, 2026. As always, the Eurovision Song Contest will be broadcast live on France Télévisions.
At this stage of the contest, France's official representative has yet to be announced. For context, Louane was the country's contestant in 2025, finishing in seventh place with her song "maman." However, some countries have already revealed their chosen artist. Montenegro, for instance, will be represented by Tamara Živković, and Albania has named Alis as their candidate.
But how many countries have officially confirmed their participation in the 70th edition of the Eurovision, following the withdrawal of five nations (Spain, Ireland, Iceland, the Netherlands, and Slovenia)? In 2026, the lineup will include 35 countries. 35 countries (compared to 37 last year) will compete to claim the coveted top spot at Eurovision 2026. Additionally, several countries are making their return this year, including Bulgaria, Moldova, and Romania, all coming back after absences of three, one, and two years respectively.
