Many believed they would. Once again, France failed to win the 69th Eurovision Song Contest. Louane, the French candidate, finished in 7th place, despite a fine performance of her song "Maman".

A touching song and a magnificent production by Fredrik Rydman. But it wasn't enough. Ranked among the Top 5 favorites since the start of the competition, Louane unfortunately failed to claim first place and victory this Saturday, May 17, at the 69th edition ofEurovision. With her song " Maman ", Louane finally finished 7th in the official and definitive rankings. The singer had nevertheless won over a large part of the jury, to the point of garnering a total of 230 points (including public votes). But the Austrian candidate JJ was stronger on May 17, 2025, winning this 2025 edition of Eurovision.

You can imagine the disappointment of Louane and the FrenchEurovision delegation. Especially as the artist had spared no effort in recent weeks and days, tirelessly rehearsing her performance. But the artist can be proud of herself. Louane put on a very fine show at the 69thEurovision final on Saturday evening, delivering a performance that was as beautiful as it was moving.

In 7th place overall, Louane couldn't do better than Barbara Pravi, who came 2nd in 2021, and Slimane, who came 4th last year.

France last won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1977. That year, Marie Myriam won over the entire audience with her song " L'Oiseau et l'Enfant ". Since then, France has been desperately awaiting a new, 6th victory. But fate seems to be on its last legs.
