Vienna is gearing up to host the 70th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. As every year, the musical event will unfold in several phases, beginning with two semi-finals scheduled for Tuesday, May 12, and Thursday, May 14. The grand final is set for Saturday, May 16, 2026. It’s at the end of this decisive evening that we’ll find out who will be crowned the winner of Eurovision 2026. In the meantime, the contestants from the 35 participating countries are tirelessly rehearsing their songs and performances, all aimed at impressing the juries and viewers on the big day.
Among them is the French contestant. Following rumors linking Linh and Zaz to the contest, it’s ultimately Monroe who will be representing France this spring in Austria. But who is she, and what song will she perform next May in Vienna? We’ve got all the details!
You’ve probably seen her name and face before. That’s no surprise, as Monroe catapulted into the spotlight in 2025 after winning the hit show « Prodiges » on France 2. With her powerful voice and contemporary flair, Monroe quickly won over both the jury and audiences across France.
This spring, the 17-year-old artist will need to captivate a much broader audience. Luckily, she can rely on her high artistic standards. The opera singer, raised between France and the United States, started singing and playing piano at a very young age. Trained in classical music, Monroe is gradually developing a unique, modern style of her own.
After releasing her debut self-titled album in 2025, Monroe is set to perform in several churches and cathedrals across France in the coming months. In Île-de-France, the young opera singer will be stopping in places like Versailles, Montreuil, and notably at the Saint-Sulpice church in Paris. Just before these performances, Monroe will have the honor of representing France at the Eurovision Song Contest.
“Representing France at Eurovision is a tremendous honor and a responsibility I embrace with pride and determination. This competition has been a part of my life since childhood, and now at 17, I fully understand the trust placed in me. I’m entering this stage with the French colors held high — a country that has shaped and inspired me. With my song “Regarde!”, I want to showcase the richness and diversity of French music to the world. My goal is to deliver a heartfelt, powerful performance with a universal message: love is what unites us all.” Monroe shared in a statement.
In a bid to bring the trophy back home for the first time since Marie Myriam's win 49 years ago, Monroe will perform the song "Regarde !" in Vienna. Dubbed an anthem of love, this track combines the emotional power of opera, the theatrical flair of classic musicals, and the freshness of modern pop. With her distinctive voice and exceptional vocal strength, the singer could well have the edge come May in Vienna. It's worth noting that the song was composed by Max and Chris of "Violin Phonix," with lyrics penned by Fred Savio and Freddie Marche.
And it seems the song is striking a chord with many listeners, as "Regarde!" has been streamed over 380,000 times in just two days! According to bookmakers, Monroe currently holds the second spot, right behind Finland.
So, will Monroe manage to take home the victory at this 70th edition of the Eurovision with her song "Look!"? Stay tuned until May 16, 2026, to find out!
